Gorran Haven is a fishing village on the south coast of Cornwall, tucked into the shore near Mevagissey. It is a village of two halves: the Haven itself, with its small harbour and pier, and Gorran Churchtown above it, where the parish church is dedicated to Saint Goran. The coast path runs through both, and Vault Beach waits below the village to the south, reached on foot.
The harbour
The harbour is small and honest about it: a pier, a slip, a handful of boats, and walls that take the weather when the bay is rough. Fishing came first here, and it has never entirely stopped.
Around the village
Above the Haven, the older settlement sits on the rising ground, with the church and its tower looking down over the coast. Walkers on the South West Coast Path pass through on the way to Mevagissey or on towards Caerhays, and the beach at Vault is the reward for the climb down.
