Lanhydrock is a country estate south of Bodmin, with a house that is largely Victorian and partly of the 1620s, Grade I listed, at the centre of an estate of 360 hectares. In Kernewek it is Lannhedrek, the church enclosure of Saint Hydrock. The estate came to the Agar-Robartes family, and it has been owned and managed by the National Trust since 1953.
The house
The house combines Victorian work with sections from the 1620s, and it has been cared for by the National Trust since 1953. It has the scale and the stillness of a house that was lived in rather than left, which is the special quality of the place.
The church
The parish church of St Hydroc stands in the house grounds, partly of the late fifteenth century. Its tower is three-stage battlemented and holds nine bells, the ninth of about 1599. House and church have stood together here for centuries.
